Sake Sales in the world increasing

It's great to hear that whilst sake sales are falling in japan they are rising overseas. There has been much speculation as to the reasons for this. Perhaps it is the 'a prophet ath no honour in his home toen' or maybe it is because of the prevelance of inferior quality futushu sake which has turned off the general populace from sake and onto alternatives such as wine or shochu which are generally lower in alcohol and (in the case of wine) perceived to be more 'cool', give it an international flair and generally sell more due also to a superior price point.

Whatever the reason sales in japan have been dropping but overseas sake sales have been rapidly increasing.

This article has the situation covered in depth.

Enjoy.
